The Perfect Gift December 6, 2011

Here we are, already into the last month of 2011. It is hard to believe. I am sure you are all very busy with everything surrounding the holidays. What is your favorite part of Christmas? I don’t know about you, but I love it all. But if I were to pick one thing, it would be the giving of gifts to those in need. We as a family for the past several years, have picked one or two names off of a Christmas “gift” tree and went shopping for someone we didn’t even know.  What joy that has brought to our hearts and it is always so fun to see how our daughters have been touched by this.  And not only have we bought presents for that  “someone,” but we also do our best to include that “someone” in our prayers, that God would touch their heart  and bring them to a saving knowledge of Him. (Personally that would be the best gift ever!)  But lots of times when we are in the gift-giving mood, we struggle with that “perfect gift.” What can I give? Have you ever asked yourself that question?

Today, I want you to ask yourself, “What can I give to Jesus this Christmas?”  There is a short poem, written by Christina Rosetti, that I just love and I want to share it with you.

What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him?
I will give Him my heart.

Sometimes it is so easy to lose focus of the true meaning of Christmas. There are so many distractions…lots of parties…Christmas school programs…cookies and goodies to bake…gifts to purchase…cards and family pictures to get in the mail…lots of decorating to do….You get the picture!  And all of these distractions can be very stressful and overwhelming.

Ladies, today, let’s give everything over to Jesus. Let’s lay down all of our problems and concerns at the foot of the cross. Let’s begin today by giving thanks for all of His countless blessings, and surrounding our ALL to Him. This will be our gift to Him – our heart, our ALL! What an awesome, incredible gift that we can give to Him!

Have a blessed week!

Loving you today,

Debbie Carr
